Maxine has become a very influential artist and teacher in the northwest. Through her more than twenty-five years of painting experience she has grown and developed her talents that are reflected in the art she continues to create today. She has received recognition and awards for her achievements as an abstract artist.
She takes pleasure in teaching and participating in workshops, that allow her to continue learning from other artists as well as teaching others, thus fulfilling her passion as an artist.
Maxine’s Processes and Philosophy
“I often work on four or five paintings at once, waiting for the pattern to emerge. Nothing has ever completely captivated my attention as much as painting has. It only intensifies with time and experience.”
Maxine applies multiple layers, at times working wet on wet or at others, allowing the paint to dry completely; she then adds textures and starts the layering process again. She sometimes scrubs or sands previous layers until she is satisfied with the results of the painting.
The paintings that Maxine creates are evoked from subconscious thoughts and feelings as well as from her life experience and travels. Her work has also been influenced by her travels around the world and by her studies of ancient history and the cultures of ancient civilizations. Maxine continues to create abstract art works that reflect her experiences and emotions and that are compelling for all to see and collect.
